Patient's Page All patients who are suffering from any form of a chronic pain problem are encouraged to contact us through the attached Register or by email particularly if they are having any difficulties with the control of their pain problem. If their problem does not fit into any of the research protocols that are known to us then our panel of doctors will make every effort to supply them with the names and addresses of practitioners who may be of direct assistance in its control. We do have resources to provide the names of specialists even outside of the USA. By checking the attached list below of planned staff research interests or one of the researchers listed on the researchers page further help can be expected if you check off the staff member's name on the register that you feel would have the most interest in your case --especially if he or she is already involved in research that includes your diagnosis. The staff member may even be able to arrange to include you in his or her project, but all patients must be aware that a research project is not undertaken to simply manage a particular pain complaint. Under all circumstance the staff member will work with your treating physician who will continue to direct the management of your condition if you are taking part in one of our research projects. In keeping with the primary goal of the Institution, namely to bring the researcher together with his two major necessities -funds and subjects or patients, it must be made clear that not only is institution staff membership open to any and all individuals through out the world who are doing any type of research in the large field of chronic pain, but also those who do not want to participate as patients or staff members are encouraged simply to make their interests known to us and we will assist them in any way that we are able. It is to be hoped that this open approach will eventually in itself be a model for a new beginning in research endeavors through the unique ability of the internet to more directly coordinate -those vital elements, than is able to be accomplished by Foundations where money alone is brought to the researcher without also dealing with the equally important control subjects or the patients. By this new approach both the increasing number of Pain Management Groups as well as the Foundations can be directly benefited by this type of Institution. There is no charge for this service neither to Patient or to Researcher. Staff Member's Research Interest or Project Response Consistency: An approach to the psychology of a patient's pain perception and expression.
